Jojo Moyes is the latest best-selling author set to join BBC Maestro’s online platform of world-class experts. Her course, Writing Love Stories, will explore the complexities of love – from romantic and unrequited to parental and platonic – and the nuanced relationships essential to building a rich reading experience. Throughout her lessons, Jojo will offer unique insight into her own writing process, describing how to transform ideas on post-it notes into globally best-selling novels. Jojo’s books have been translated into forty-six languages, with titles hitting bestseller lists across twelve countries. Her writing has received international and critical acclaim, with Me Before You and The Last Letter from Your Lover adapted into films starring Emilia Clarke and Sam Claflin, and Felicity Jones and Shailene Woodley, respectively.

Over 20 lessons, Jojo will draw on moments from across her prolific career to guide viewers through the art of building compelling relationships, sharing advice on crafting both memorable characters and captivating love stories. Throughout the course, Jojo will reveal her personal writing techniques, encouraging aspiring authors to draw on their creativity and discover their own unique storytelling voice. Detailed course notes will allow viewers to delve into the essential components of love stories between each video lesson: with practical exercises focused on exploring character development, creating authentic relationships, and crafting emotional arcs.

"I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining BBC Maestro. Writing Love Stories is my chance to invite you into my writing process. Whether you write in five-minute bursts on the train, or late at night when the rest of the house is finally still, I want to show you how to make the most of every sentence. I’m going to share my secrets for capturing both relationship highs and poignant twists that will stay with readers long after the final page. I hope I can be a part of your publishing journey and can’t wait to meet, and fall in love with, the characters you create after completing my course."

Jojo’s course on Writing Love Stories will be available later this year via bbcmaestro.com. The BBC Maestro platform features a series of extended, in-depth lessons filmed in 4K with an eclectic mix of prestigious experts and allows participants to explore new areas of learning from the comfort of their own home.
