Investing in the

creative industry

Nurturing talent, growing skills and supporting new businesses.

A key part of the creative industries, both in the UK and internationally.

Through programme investment, and partnerships with production companies to fund or sell their programmes, as well as equity stakes, we bring around £180 million to the creative sector annually. We partner with talented up-and-coming indie labels in a number of ways. We invest directly in the business and become shareholders – either on a minority or majority basis, working closely to build the business and grow their ideas.

Sometimes we strike a first-look deal to help support the development of new ideas, by having the first opportunity to invest in a story. Or we use our global distribution network, and relationships with media companies globally, to get these stories to a wider audience.

We also provide funding for industry charity The Film & TV Charity, which supports those working freelance in the production sector.

Bringing on tomorrow's talent.

We actively develop the skills of those in the production sector, on- and off-screen, in order to set and maintain the highest of industry standards, and also to nurture the next generation.

Our Assistant Producer Accelerator Programme provides work placements to improve access to the TV industry for young people. The popular ScriptWorks and TalentWorks programmes focus on scripted and digital talent, respectively. They offer placements, mentoring and training to develop the writing and presenting talent of the future.
