The Human Body: Secrets of Your Life Revealed
Cutting-edge science, beautifully visualised
Through a combination of cutting-edge research, groundbreaking graphics and experiments on their own bodies, doctors Chris and Xand van Tulleken reveal the extraordinary stories hidden within each and every one of us: the story of how we grow, survive and learn.
“Essential viewing for adults and children”
“Watch in awe as Chris and Xand van Tulleken explore the extraordinary lengths our bodies go through...Incredible.”
The human body is in the business of keeping secrets. Those secrets are vital for our survival from everything that wants to exploit it: bacteria, viruses, fungi, parasites, larger predators and, crucially, other people.
All these agents are constantly probing our bodies, looking for weaknesses. We survive by not giving anything away that we don’t absolutely have to.
For new BBC Two three-part series The Human Body: Secrets of Your Life Revealed, Doctors Chris and Xand van Tulleken set out to explore those secrets and discover how we keep them, and meet the people who uncover them.
In the process, they discover other hidden ways in which we grow, thrive and age — ways that scientists are only beginning to understand and exploit. Even as identical twins Chris and Xand find some of their similarities surprising, however it is their differences which demonstrate how our bodies are constantly learning in ways we don’t even notice.
The Human Body: The Secrets of Your Life Revealed is produced by BBC Studios’ The Science Unit in partnership with The Open University for BBC Two, with Series Producer Nigel Paterson and Executive Producer Andrew Cohen.
