BBC Studios appoints Sara Swinney as Head of HR, Global Content

BBC Studios today announces the appointment of Sara Swinney as Head of HR for BBC Studios Global Content - a leadership role spanning both the organisation’s Global Content and People Leadership teams.
Swinney brings more than 25 years’ experience shaping HR strategy, leading organisational transformation and driving cultural change across global creative businesses. She joins from NBC Universal International Studios, where she served as International Head of HR/Vice President for the studio and NBC Universal’s film, television and theatrical Production operations.
Reporting to BBC Studios’ Director of HR, Jermaine Daw, and working closely with Zai Bennett, BBC Studios CEO for Global Content, Swinney will lead people strategy for the UK’s most awarded producer and number one distributor. Supporting its international workforce and production operations across the UK, EMEA, the Americas and APAC, in alignment with the wider BBC Group’s priorities, she will also help ensure BBC Studios continues to lead the UK production sector, building on original landmark initiatives such as The Pledge, the Inclusion Rider, and its ongoing programme Culture Reviews.
Known for building progressive talent strategies, embedding inclusive cultures, and designing scalable HR models for complex freelance and production environments, pre-NBC she also founded Sara Swinney Ltd, delivering leadership development, executive coaching and cultural change programmes across several media, technology and retail organisations. Earlier in her career, she held senior HR roles at Sky, MTV and Universal Music.
